Getting Started
How do I create an account? Download the Talesbrew app, tap Get Started, and follow the onboarding steps. You’ll enter your email, verify it, set up your profile, pick your interests, and grant location access. The whole process takes about three minutes.
What is the minimum age to use Talesbrew? You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We take this seriously — accounts found to belong to minors are permanently removed.
How do I complete my profile? Go to your Profile tab and tap Edit Profile. Add your name, photo, bio, and interests. A complete profile gets significantly more visibility in discovery and helps us connect you with the right people.
What happens during onboarding? When you first sign up, we walk you through eight steps: creating your account, verifying your email, building your profile, choosing your interests, setting your availability, picking your social style, granting location access, and enabling notifications. You can skip optional steps and come back to them later.
Can I edit my interests after signing up? Yes. Go to Profile, tap Edit Profile, and scroll to the Interests section. You can add or remove interests at any time.
Discovery & Connecting
How does Talesbrew decide who to show me? We surface people who share your interests, are within your selected distance, and whose availability and social style align with yours. The more complete your profile, the better your matches.
What does “Available Now” mean? Available Now shows people who are currently active on the app and open to connecting. It is a great way to find someone for a spontaneous coffee or meetup.
How do I connect with someone I found on Discover? Tap their profile to view it, then tap Connect or send them a message. If they accept, you will be connected and can chat freely.
What is “Similar Interests” and how does it work? Similar Interests shows people nearby who share the most interests with you, based on what you selected during onboarding. It prioritizes depth of overlap over proximity.
How do I adjust my discovery distance? Tap the filter icon on the Discover screen and drag the Distance slider to your preferred range. You can set it anywhere from 1 to 50 miles.
Events
How do I find events near me? Tap the Events tab. You will see upcoming events in your area by default. Use the filter icon to narrow by category, date, time of day, price, or distance.
How do I RSVP to an event? Open the event and tap the RSVP or Join button. For free events this is immediate. For paid events you will be taken through a checkout flow.
How do I create an event? Tap the plus button on the Events tab or go to your Profile and tap Create Event. You will need a Talesbrew Pro subscription to host events. Once subscribed, you can set the title, type, date, time, location, capacity, price, and description.
Why can’t I see the full address of an event? Some organizers choose to share the exact address only with confirmed attendees as a privacy and safety measure. Once your attendance is confirmed, the full address will appear in the event details.
Can I save events for later? Yes. Tap the bookmark icon on any event card or event detail page to save it. Access your saved events from the Events tab under Saved.
How do I contact an event organizer? On the event detail page, tap the organizer’s name or photo to view their profile, then tap Message Organizer.
How do I cancel my attendance? Open the event, scroll to the bottom, and tap Cancel RSVP. If it was a paid event, refer to our refund policy or contact connect@talesbrew.com.
What is the difference between free and paid events? Free events have no cost to attend. Paid events require a ticket purchase before your spot is confirmed. Organizers set the price when creating the event.
Groups
How do I join a group? Go to the Discover tab and tap Groups. Browse the list and tap View & Join on any group that interests you. Public groups let you join immediately. Invite Only groups require you to send a request that the admin approves.
What is the difference between a Public, Invite Only, and Private group? Public groups are visible to everyone and open to join. Invite Only groups are visible in search but require a request or invite link to join. Private groups are hidden from search and accessible only through a direct invite from an admin.
How do I create a group? You need a Talesbrew Pro subscription to create groups. Once subscribed, tap Create Group from your Profile or the Groups section. You will go through a four-step process: naming your group and adding a photo, adding a description and details, setting privacy and permissions, and inviting your first members.
What can a group admin do? Group admins can edit the group name, description, photo, and rules. They can approve or remove members, promote other members to admin, control who can send messages, and delete the group entirely. As the group creator, you are automatically the admin.
How do I leave a group? Open the group chat, tap the three dots in the top right corner, and select Leave Group. You will stop receiving messages immediately.
Can I invite friends to a group? Yes. During group creation you can search for and invite people directly. After the group is created, admins can share an invite link from the Group Info screen.
How do I report something in a group chat? Tap the three dots in the group chat header and select Report Group. For a specific message, press and hold the message and tap Report. Our team reviews all reports within 24 hours.
Talesbrew Pro
What is Talesbrew Pro? Talesbrew Pro is our monthly subscription that unlocks the ability to create events and groups, access engagement analytics, and display a Pro badge on your profile.
What do I get with a Pro subscription? Pro includes unlimited event creation, group creation and management, advanced analytics on your events and groups, priority placement in discovery, and a verified Pro badge.
How much does Pro cost? Talesbrew Pro is $14.99 per month. There are no hidden fees and you can cancel at any time.
How do I cancel my subscription? Go to Settings, tap Subscription, and tap Cancel Plan. Your Pro access continues until the end of your current billing period. You will not be charged again after that.
Can I get a refund? Subscription charges are generally non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at connect@talesbrew.com within 30 days of the charge and we will review it.
Why can’t I create an event without Pro? Creating and hosting events and groups requires a Pro subscription. This helps us maintain the quality and safety of hosted experiences on the platform.
Messaging
How do I start a conversation? Visit someone’s profile and tap Message. You can also start a conversation from the Messages tab by tapping the compose icon.
Can someone message me if I haven’t connected with them? Connection requests must be accepted before messaging is fully open. This helps prevent unwanted messages.
How do I mute a group chat? Open the group chat, tap the three dots in the top right corner, and toggle Mute Notifications. You will stop receiving alerts but can still read messages at any time.
How do I block someone? Go to their profile, tap the three dots in the top right corner, and select Block. Blocked users cannot view your profile, message you, or see you in discovery.
Are my messages private? Yes. Your direct messages are private between you and the recipient. Group messages are visible only to group members. We do not share your messages with third parties. In serious safety investigations, messages may be reviewed by our Trust & Safety team as described in our Privacy Policy.
Safety & Privacy
How do I block or report a user? Go to the user’s profile and tap the three dots in the top right corner. You will see options to Block or Report. You can report a profile, a message, an event, or a group at any time.
Who can see my location? Other users see your approximate distance, not your precise location. You control location access through your device settings. You can grant access while using the app, allow it once, or deny it entirely.
How do I control who sees my exact location at an event? When creating an event, toggle the Location Privacy option to show the full address only to confirmed attendees. Browsers of the event will see only the general area.
How do I turn off location access? Go to your device Settings, find Talesbrew under Apps, and tap Location. You can change permission to Never at any time. Note that turning off location will limit discovery features.
What happens after I report someone? Our Trust & Safety team reviews every report, typically within 24 hours. The person you reported will not know you filed a report. Depending on the finding, we may issue a warning, restrict their account, or remove them from the platform entirely.
How do I delete my account? Go to Settings, tap Account Settings, and select Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile and data from our active systems within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
Account & Settings
How do I change my profile photo? Go to Profile, tap Edit Profile, and tap your current photo. You can upload a new image from your camera roll.
